BOHEMIAN DREAMS IN ZARA
Despite the weather being unpredictable there’s one thing we can be sure of: every summer the high street is awash with bohemian style pieces featuring rich embroideries, tassels and flowy shapes. This year is no different. Zara has really raised its game in terms of embroidery with sellout pieces highly sought after for many seasons after their release.
Anyway, this beautiful embroidered smock dress really caught my eye whilst running the gauntlet of online sales shopping. I couldn’t resist.
Zara certainly don’t skimp on the details do they?
This beautiful dress features an embroidered placket which can be tied together with a navy rope and hassle tie. The balloon sleeve and back feature heavy embroidery, plus the dress comes with an underlay. Not that I feel it needs one, however this is down to personal choice and the colour of your undies! However this cotton slip which has adjustable straps, is super handy for other sheer dresses, so a 2 for 1 really.
The fabric is beautifully soft polyester and mulberry silk combination, not a starchy cotton as seen on earlier versions (check this out here). This gives a beautiful finish and ever-so-slight sheerness to it.
I’ve paired this dress with a vintage basket bag bargain from eBay. I’ve been searching for the perfect basket bag for some time and toyed with the idea of Ellen & James, Edit58, Cult Gaia amount others. I’ve always felt a little dubious about following where so many others have ventured, so I decided vintage was my best option for something affordable and unique. I wasn’t disappointed! Roomy enough to carry every daytime essential you can think of, it features two oblong handles built into the weave. If you enjoy wearing a bag over your arm crook – this isn’t the bag for you though due to the narrowness of the handle. There are plenty of others available to suit such needs.
